Teaching Argumentative Essay Topics
Teaching Argumentative Essay TopicsArgumentative essays are by nature controversial, the school year is well underway in my home state of Alabama and the 7th grade argumentative essay topics are becoming increasingly heated. This is not a good thing, it is the kind of thing that causes tension among students, which will likely make them less productive as they become more concerned with what is going on in their classrooms. The level of concern is probably not one I would want my children to have.My son, Ryan, has been watching his father (yes, he has been told that he cannot 'have any more boys') and he knows that if he and his friends want to hang out with them they must talk about politics, religion, and race so that they can prepare for their sophomore year of high school debate team. It's clear that his parents are aware of his desire to make his boys smarter so that they can fit into the high school.Yet, Ryan doesn't know what his parents expect him to say in his own sense of w hat is right and wrong. And there is no system or curriculum that is being used to guide this. It is up to the parents, to make sure their children get to express themselves and not be criticized and bullied for doing so. It's what we call in political circles; dissent and open defiance. If parents are not willing to stand up for their child and their right to dissent and speech they are not doing good parenting. This is a critical lesson that parents must learn and this article is aimed at parents who have a need to teach their children about free speech. I will explain in this article. There are plenty of challenging seventh grade argumentative essay topics that are getting the heat lately and unfortunately, most parents are losing the battle against the school. To illustrate why this is happening, think about the amount of attention that the previous administration gaveto the social movements of the 1960s; it did not go over well with the school. Instead of trying to redirect atten tion to the real issues it is now the educators who are holding the discussion back.To them, American history has already been taught from the time of the Declaration of Independence when the colonists refused to bow to British power. Those generations were never oppressed nor did they ever face oppression. It was all a conspiracy. It's not what you remember, it's what was taught then and the techniques they used to challenge the establishment. It's one of the many reasons American history has become so politicized. We are in a free-for-all stage and there is no school which is using these politically charged argumentative essay topics. If the current education agenda is to restrict free speech it is working, because this is what they are doing and it is causing many a student to shut down. So please, if you have a child who wants to express himself in a meaningful way, do what is right, educate him with topic based essay topics.
